At the Interpretive Center

at-the-parkI took this picture a few weeks ago when Verna and I were visiting the Point Vicente Interpretive Center and Whale Watching facility. It was a cool day with good visibility and we enjoyed our visit. We often take a drive down to the south side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and enjoy the surf, wildlife and scenery we encounter. Glowing Vendela Rose

This is a picture of one of the Vendela roses in the crystal bud vase this week. The flower was partially lighted from behind with sunlight through the window above giving it this nice glowing effect.

Mother’s Day 2007

mothers-day.jpgHow can you make Mom happy on Mother’s Day? If it’s Verna, you go to the shooting range with her. JJ did just that. He came over and went to the range with us and we shot a bunch of .38 special, 9MM and both 12 and 20 gauge shotguns. It was a good outing and we all had fun. Click the photo for full-sized version.

Epiphyllum

When we went to the Cactus and Succulent Exhibition last month, we picked up a 3-inch cutting from an epiphyllum in a small plastic planter. We put it in the patio and this week it produced this beautiful ‘frühlingsgold’ flower. Frühlingsgold translates from German to ’spring gold’ in English.
