We never buy commercially-grown rosemary these days, since this beautiful Blue Tuscan Rosemary grows in abundance in the garden here. We have so much of this vigorous herb, that we use its smoke in the barbecue to add a unique flavor to some of our favorite meats. And who can deny the beauty of the delicate little flowers? Self-Portrait
I took this picture of my hand over the weekend.
Oh, by the way, I was about to clean up the new Glock 26 while sitting on the backyard swing.

Nostalgic Neon Clock
We went shopping at our local discount emporium Saturday looking for a new clock for the family room. While we were there Verna brought my attention to this little beauty. I guess they must have been a popular item, ’cause this one, which was on display, was the last one in the store. Verna went and got a clerk to get it off of the wall for us, and it now hangs above the entertainment center like a majestic beacon. Oh – and it tells the time too.
Our recent vacation took us along parts of old Route 66 in Arizona; this little nostalgic trinket brings back fond memories. Not just from the last trip, but over the years back to before the 1970s when old Route 66 still thrived. Click on the thumbnail for a larger view.
Hot Shots
Whew! When we got to the range yesterday, the cooling fan wasn’t keeping up with the elevated temperatures outside. Good thing we dressed in tank tops to help us cope with the heat.
Shooting was a lot of fun in spite of the temperatures in the range. We each brought our little guns – Verna’s S&W 442 and my Glock 26 – the regular hand guns – the S&W 686 revolver and the S&W 908s pistol – and all three shotguns with wooden stocks – my 40-year old Ithaca, and both our Remington 870s. The video is us emptying the 870s 5-round capacity magazines.
The 2 by 3 paper target did not do as well as we did.
Oh No! 10,000 Miles On The Sebring!
After nearly eight years, my little Chrysler Sebring Convertible has finally passed 10,000 miles on the odometer. I know – most people have that sort of mileage after a few months of ownership, but I got this little car just about the time I retired from the daily grind, and settled down to take care of the domicile, the puppies, my gardens and my husband. Not a bad gig after all those years of wiping noses and butts raising the kids as a mother and wiping noses and butts taking care of customers as a sales representative.
I only drive it for recreation, when I need to run an errand by myself or when the truck is in the shop. That was the case last week when the SUV had a flat tire, and my little car had to go to work for a day. When it went, the odometer read 9999 on the way out of the driveway.
Alpha and Omega
Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters, respectively, in the Greek alphabet, or so I’m told. That just sounded like a good title for this post since I have a feeling that the blooming season is about over for the Cereus cactus in our garden. The First Flower popped out around the end of May, leading up to a Profusion of blooms a couple of weeks ago.
This little bud may be one of the last blooms of the season. It looks formidable surrounded by spines, but it is destined to be another gorgeous flower. Click on the image at the left for a really close-up view.
