Ours got us to Morro Bay today. It seems to work pretty well.

My understanding is that you should only need to upload new maps to it every year or so, unless you're not planning to go somewhere, in which case you upgrade before you take the trip.

		<description>Hey, I just bought a Nuvi too.  I love it also but I bought mine because I got so lost in Texas on my business trips that I had to get it.  I always thought you needed a subscription but I guess all we need is to periodically pay for updates, right?  That's what I've heard.</description>
