At Mom’s Rock Today
Just before departing up scenic Highway 1, we paused to get this self-portrait of us with Morro Rock in the distance.

Today, we’re at one of my Mother’s favorite places on Earth, Morro Bay. Mom says that this is her rock. Verna took this photo today when the fog was barely obscuring the top of the rock. We’re camping in an RV park right on the beach, and have this view when we take Bear for a walk. Click image to enlarge.

When we went to pick up the RV today, we had to wait a bit while they got the rig ready for us. It was rather warm today and Bear was ventilating doggie-style. It’s a good thing we got her hair trimmed for summer, or she might have been even warmer.

We’ll start posting vacation pictures tomorrow. We’re in a campground near Buellton tonight. The real sightseeing starts tomorrow.
Just in time for the Summer vacation! The new GARMIN nüvi GPS system. It’s a good medium entry level navigation system with enough features to be helpful, and simple enough for a neophyte to use. It worked right out of the box with a brilliant display, spoken directions and a 3D perspective map.
Actual GPS Image - click to enlarge. We’ll be using this for our trip - real soon now . . .
In June, we had a nice clear Sunday afternoon. We took a drive over the Palos Verdes Peninsula to see the sights. One of those sights was this flight of California Brown Pelicans soaring along the cliffs with the west lobe of Santa Catalina Island in the distance. Click image to enlarge.
In the not too distant future, we expect to launch along the seacoast and hope to get some photos of the coastline, seascapes, wildlife and whatever else we see. We’ll be posting our best photos here. Stay tuned!

We were running errands today to get ready for another summer adventure. Part of the time, however, I took the time for trying out my new camera. I took this close up of a tiny (one inch across) blue flower on the Lily of the Nile growing along side of the house. Click image to enlarge.

Meet my new camera - a Canon EOS Rebel XSi:
The old camera, a Canon EOS XTi, had the habit of dropping some of the picture files during downloading. We’re not sure why, but it was a minor nuisance. So, we decided to let the old camera be the standby unit and upgraded to the next-generation EOS.
The image shows the new camera with the protective amour installed. Click to enlarge.
