Siesta

I don’t have any chihuahua or Mexican hairless in me that I know about, but I do like to take a siesta in the afternoon. The Mama puts on my serápe and I do the rest.

Gazania

According to one website, the gazania (a.k.a. “Treasure Flower’) likes hot, dry summers. Obviously, this one growing on the patio has a different opinion in the matter.

Gazanias appear similar to daisies and have attractive and colorful petals. They grow on short stems and come in white, pink, bronze, red, yellow, and orange with banded markings.

Gazanias are native to South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Tanzania and Angola. Gazanias also are considered ‘naturalized’ in Australia, New Zealand, and California. They are widely cultivated as ornamental garden plants.

Scenic Utah Highways

I just got my 2010 Arizona Highways Calendar the other day. There are a dozen very beautiful photographs taken in our neighboring state and I love the calendar. Arizona has many very scenic places.

Looking through some photos taken in Utah on a previous vacation, I found a nice photo of a Utah Highway, and like in Arizona, a beautiful view. Click to see it full sized.

Favorite 3D Image

best0f3d.pngAs far as picking my personal favorites of the 3D images I have made to date, this view of the Grand Canyon, that I captured on our Summer ’08 vacation, comes pretty close. The view is from one of the turnouts on the South Rim, not too far from Grand Canyon Village.

3D Image: Grand Canyon Looking Northeast – click to enlarge.

The view, looking to the northeast, shows some foreground perspective, an intermediate rock formation and the canyon walls in the far distance. Even though the perspectives are there in the 2D version of this image, the added feature of stereo vision enhances the effect of depth and perspective.

Oh, if you don’t have your 3D glasses yet, you can get a free pair from Rainbow Symphony.
