Flower of the Coral Tree

I found a coral tree with low-hanging branches so I could get a close-up of one of the gorgeous fire-red flowers. The tree is in a cemetery in Westminster where we were visiting today. Click on the image to enlarge.

Mickey Salutes America

One of our charities is the USO. Today, their magazine On Patrol came in the mail. Inside, there was a nice article about how the Disney Studios created characters and films in support of the troops. The poster Mickey Salutes America was featured – I thought he was cute so I’m posting him here too.

Traditional Irish Dinner

Corned beef brisket served with a dab of horseradish sauce along with red potatoes, baby carrots and cabbage. We had this dinner last Sunday and today we had left over corned-beef sandwiches for lunch.

Point Vicente Panoramic Image

This one is wider than usual, panning from the lighthouse to the right of the Malibu coastline in the distance. Verna had been taking photos of the lighthouse and surf from the fence. Click on the small panorama to see the big one.

Orange Blossom Special

Unless you live in a part of the world where citrus is produced, you’re not likely to recognize the tiny orange blossom. This one is blooming on the dwarf orange tree in our back yard. We expect to get fruit again this year. Last year, we used the navel oranges in recipes where juice or zest (or both) are ingredients. Click on the image to enlarge.
