Bertable Ride

bertable-ride.jpgI got a ride in the Mama’s bertable today. We rode to the lighthouse place and walked to the whale watcher place. Then we walked back to the bertable and got in for more riding.

I like to ride in the bertable ’cause the top is down and I get more wind in my face and more stuff to smell. When I get to ride in the back seat of the Daddy’s truck he only opens the windows a little bit.

I had fun riding and sniffing and walking and riding today. OK, I guess I will take a nap now.

Quest for Our Desert Home

santa-fe-house.jpg

For several months, we have been talking about ways to relocate to Arizona as soon as possible. Up to this point, it has been all talk. Over the weekend we decided to take some action by heading to Arizona (very soon) to shop for a home there.

I went on line to see currently available homes in the area where we are most likely to settle. I am pleasantly surprised to see how affordable homes are over there. I worked out the numbers and I do believe we can be in a position to shop, make an offer and get into a home this year – maybe this summer.

Our California house is quite large – four bedrooms, three baths, large family room, two stories – space we used to need when we were raising a family. Now, in retirement, it’s just overkill. We figure to get into a single story, two or three bedroom with a two car garage and space to store the RV.

The one in the picture above came from one of the real estate websites. It’s an example of the class of home and Santa Fe styling we both like a lot.

Peach Blossoms

The little peach tree in Mom’s front yard is full of blossoms. I took this close-up of some of them today when we visited her today. Click on the image to enlarge.

Barbecued New York Strips

Weekend food. I rolled out the BBQ after coming home from Mom’s 90th birthday celebration and cooked up this delicious steak. Verna served it with butternut squash and a stewed zucchini- tomato combination. Good eats!

Celebration

Today we celebrated Mom’s 90th birthday. Family and friends from all over the area flocked to Kate’s party. The photo above is me, my sister Krystal and Mom. Click to see the full-sized version.

Joining Mom today were both of her surviving children, several grand children, one of many great grandchildren and even a great-great grandchild. Many of her friends from the Salvation Army post where Mom served were in attendance.
