Granite Counters

We drove to Arizona today through some pretty awful weather to take some fixtures to our new house. When we got there, we were amazed at the progress made by the contractor’s crew since our last visit.

I took this picture of the granite counter top in the little bath. You can see the beautiful patterns and colors of the granite slabs that are also in the kitchen and the master bath. Click on the image to enlarge.

Multicolor Webcam Art Fun

This works only if you have a webcam installed.

The program I use to prepare Adobe Flash® animations has a blog. Their authors will post articles describing various aspects of the program. Yesterday, they posted about importing webcam video into the animation. I downloaded the example program and tried it out. This is the result - 25 mini me images rendered with different video filters:

If you do have a webcam you might try out the flash animation below the fold. You will have to give your permission to allow access to your camera.

Wildlife in Our Arizona Yard

rodent.jpgWe see cottontails, quail, lots of different birds and these little chipmunk-like critters scurrying around the property. The paint on the ground next to this little guy identify the underground utilities so the construction crew doesn’t dig there.

Naturally, with all these little guys on hand there will be predators. We haven’t seen coyotes yet but a neighbor tells us they are frequently seen.

Happiness is a Warm Puppy (or Two)

When the weather gets cold and rainy, the Mama puts on our sweaters and gives us blankets to keep warm. Sometimes I let Cabela share my bed even though she has one too. Click the picture to make us big. OK nap time now - bye.

Snow Plow

snow-plow.jpgTwo years ago, we rented a motor home and took a trip over the Christmas Holidays. Our ultimate goal was to see Grand Canyon in the winter and, hopefully, with snow.

We stayed the first night in Twentynine Palms near Joshua Tree National Park. In the morning, we drove through the park toward Intestate 10 and then to Wickenburg, AZ.

When we stayed at the Horsepitality RV park in Wickenburg on Christmas Eve, we had no idea that we would have a house there in two years. We will likely be there over the Christmas weekend this year too.

On Christmas Day, we drove over to Interstate 17 to head to a campground in Flagstaff. By the time we got to the campground, there was about a foot and a half of snow on the ground.

We drove up to the Canyon the next morning. We stayed in the campground in the park and there was plenty of snow there too. As a matter of fact, we got stuck in snow for a couple of hours while we waited for Triple A to pull us out. Quite an adventure.

Other than the little mishap, the highways and roads were all quite well plowed. I took this image as we passed a southbound snowplow on US 180 as we were going northbound toward Grand Canyon. Click on the image to enlarge.
