Bear and Bear

Verna and I stopped by our new house this evening to drop off a few things. We’re still not quite ready to take occupancy since there aren’t enough furnishings to actually be comfortable. After we unloaded the stuff we brought, I walked out front and turned on the porch light. Unknowingly, I got a picture of the bear sconce at the same time that Bear appeared in the great room window. Spirit of Santa Monica in 3D

dc3d.pngDuring our drive to our dentist in Santa Monica, CA, we took a side trip through Santa Monica Airport where I learned to fly. Since the last time I was there, the city erected this monument to the memory of Donald Douglas who founded Douglas Aircraft. His company built many airplanes in Santa Monica.

The airplane is the venerable DC3 which is still in use some places in the world today. The plane sits on three pillars designed to give it a jaunty climbing left turn attitude. A bronze statue of Donald Douglas and his dog “Bar” (short for Wunderbar – German for wonderful).

Hot Pink Ice Plant Flower

iceplant-pink.jpgI walked out into the patio this morning and this bright pink flower immediately caught my attention. Click on the image to enlarge.

From Wikipedia:

Trailing Ice Plant or “Pink Carpet” is a dwarf perennial plant, native to South Africa. It forms a dense lawn with abundant, long-lasting flowering. It will reach sizes of approximately six inches tall.

The flowers are the most brilliant aspect of this plant, with the production of a great quantity of vermilion, magenta or pink flowers that will often cover the entire site, hence the popular name “pink carpet”. The plant contains ramified stems that are spread out, carrying sheets opposed, and are long and narrow, with the end of the stems increasing into a quantity of isolated small flowers, with diameters ranging from 1.5 to 2 inches.

Kitchen Composite Image

Thee evening we arrived in our new home, both Verna and I were taking a lot of photos of what we were seeing. I took three images panning across Verna’s new kitchen and made this composite image. Click on the thumbnail above to see full-sized.

Playtime

I just love to play with the squeaky toy. The Mama or the Daddy will throw it and I will try to catch it. This is me getting ready to pounce on the toy which is about to land on the bed. Click on me to see me big.
