Saint Anthony’s of Padua

st-anthonys.jpg

This is one of the prettiest buildings in town. Saint Anthony’s of Padua was established in the early days of Wickenburg, having started out as a wooden structure near the beginning of the 20th century. Finally, after the tough days following mine failures and the great depression, the congregation eventually constructed this beautiful brick sanctuary on Tegner Street in the Old Historic Downtown area. State of the Estate

I walked out across the road yesterday and snapped a series of images that I merged into a single panoramic image of the Arizona house and yard. We received some of the office furniture this week and are working on acquiring the rest of the home furnishings in a week or two. We’re getting closer to our completion of the interior and are just a few steps closer to the completion of the landscaping. Click on the panoramic image to see full-sized.

Purple Cholla

Most of the cholla on our lot and on the neighbors produced yellow or orange flowers. Yesterday, we drove down Madison Street and saw a cholla with purple flowers. I got out of the truck and took this photo of one of the beautiful flowers. Click on the image to enlarge.

Hassayampa River Valley Panorama

We took a nice scenic drive today up the Hassayampa River Valley. When we got to the top of one of the ridges we crossed, Verna took an image back toward the Vulture Mountains in the distance with the Hassayampa in the foreground and the Town of Wickenburg in the middle ground.
