Meet Beethoven

On an impulse, after seeing an item in the local newspaper that featured a “Pet of the Week” item, we went to the Humane Society of Wickenburg (NOT affiliated with HSUS) and adopted Beethoven, another Miniature Pinscher. Now, Cabela has a new little brother.

Beethoven (AKA Bay Bay) is a little underweight and has been through several adoptions that did not work out, but we have had him here all day and think that he will be just fine with us and our other two dogs. He is about eighteen months old and at this time, he is on my lap enjoying a nap and back rub.

The Lower Hassaympa River

Driving southwest on US 60 just before Morristown, you can catch a glimpse of the lower Hassayampa River before it disappears behind the low terrain west of the road. We love the desert vegetation and great scenery. Click on the image to enlarge.

Wildlife in Our Yard

javelina.jpgWe have seen several types of wildlife in our yard since moving to Arizona. We see quail, jackrabbits, cottontails, lizards and squirrels almost every day. Less frequently, however, we see javelina, coyotes and one time spotted a mule deer bounding across the back of the lot.

I snapped this photo of a single javelina visiting our back wash area at about 7:30 this morning. I previously posted about javelina in our area titled “Living with Javelina“.

Pasta PrimaVerna

Verna took some ideas from one of the Food Channel chefs and whipped up this wonderful chicken/zucchini/asparagus fettuccine Alfredo which we dubbed “Pasta PrimaVerna.” Excellent!
