There are actually two canyons in the area &#8211; the Canyon de Chelly (<a href=\"http:\/\/vernabob.com\/blog\/2007\/07\/25\/canyon-de-chelly\/\">we visited<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/vernabob.com\/blog\/2007\/07\/26\/verna-at-canyon-de-chelly\/\">last year<\/a>) and this one, the Canyon del Muerto, or &#8220;canyon of the dead.&#8221;  There are ruins in both canyons and each scenic overlook has an anecdote about the canyon before you. This one was about the &#8216;House under the Rock&#8217; which can be seen in the distance as Verna photographs it.
