Since the last time I was there, the city erected this monument to the memory of Donald Douglas who founded Douglas Aircraft. His company built many airplanes in Santa Monica.<\/p>\n<p>The airplane is the venerable DC3 which is still in use some places in the world today. The plane sits on three pillars designed to give it a jaunty climbing left turn attitude. A bronze statue of Donald Douglas and his dog &#8220;Bar&#8221; (short for Wunderbar &#8211; German for wonderful).<\/p>\n<p>Click on the image to see the full-sized anaglyph image.
