I have been playing with some new software the past few days. It’s a package for authoring Flash™ animations. I made our Thanksgiving e-card using the tool. I discovered a spiral object in the auto shapes component list. After playing with it for a while, I managed to get this animated spiral effect. It doesn’t do anything but it was fun to play with the new software.
Don’t know what programming language(s) you coded in, but these videos may be of interest. I’ve discovered Meetup.com which is a site where a computer user group or hiking group or whatever group can have a home page and schedule meetings. A hot area seems to be iPhone development and Android development. When I was a programmer it was ForTran and COBOL. James Gosling has some interesting comments about ForTran below.

The script used for the animations is an object-oriented language. It’s a lot like Java or JavaScript but with objects specific to Flash™.
For the record, I have programmed in Ada, Algol, Assembly, Atlas, Basic, C/C++, Cobal, Fortran, Java, JavaScript, Pascal, Perl, Pic and Python. Only a small sample of the hundreds of languages out there.
