Courtyard Progress Panoramic Image

new-wall-pan.jpg

The masons were here today for phase three of the courtyard wall. They finished the arch and put in the southwestern accents on the wall (similar to those in top of the building). I stood just across the road and took this panoramic image of the house, wall and the road. Click on the image above for the full-sized panorama. Click here to see a close up of the arch and some of the accents.

Driving Through a Saguaro Forest

Our route to Cave Creek, Arizona, takes us along state route 74, a scenic highway from US 60 to Lake Pleasant. The first twenty miles, or so, along route 74 takes you through a very scenic area consisting of many varieties of desert vegetation dominated mostly by the saguaro cactus.

Verna took all the pictures I used for this. You can pause the slideshow by rolling your mouse over the picture and resume by rolling out.

One Piece at a Time

hl-2230.jpgSince we’re going to need a printer for our new home in Arizona and still need one when we’re in California, we bought a new laser printer. It’s a Brother model HL-2230 which is a later model, but similar to the printer we already have at the old place.

I got the printer hooked up and operational this afternoon. Verna snapped this photo (click to enlarge) of the printer cranking out it’s first test page. It’s good to have a printer again. We have been doing without for a month or so. We might not have much furniture in Camp Casandro* but we have a working laser printer, by God.

We are adding one or two things at a time. Yesterday, our bed frame finally came in. We assembled it and (finally) didn’t have to sleep in a mattress and box spring on the floor.

* Our Arizona home is near Casandro Wash and Casandro Dam.

Mountainscape Panorama

This is what we saw from a ridge on the west side of town today as we looked to the north. This looks in the general direction toward Yarnell and Prescott with the Hassayampa river valley at the far right side. Click on the panorama to see full-sized.

Sunday Dinner

We might be a little short of furnishings and decoration, but we’re not going to scrimp on our cuisine. This is today’s dinner – country style barbecued pork ribs (with Verna’s killer homemade BBQ sauce), asparagus spears, the all-important beans and coleslaw. I enjoyed a bottle of Samuel Adams Winter Lager and Verna sipped a glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. We ate this sumptuous dinner on the patio table and chairs which are temporarily serving as our dining room furniture. Click on the image to enlarge.

New Patio Set

patio-set.jpgDuring the past week, we went to Lowe’s and purchased some pieces for our patio. The chairs were already assembled but we had to assemble the table ourselves. After a lot of struggling with the primitive tools that came with the parts and some tools I bought last week, we finally got it together. Next time, I’m paying the assembly fee and save myself the blister I got.

Verna picked out some southwestern seat cushions for the chairs (pattern in the inset). Click on the image to enlarge.
