Avalon 2006

As promised, we made the trip to Avalon on our anniversary. We stayed in the same hotel suite where we spent our wedding night. This time, we went on an excursion to seal rocks, a habitat for seals and sea lions by the east end of the island. We took an open air vessel from Avalon along the island coastline to the habitat. Later in the day, we went to the Botanical Gardens and the Wrigley Memorial. We had a very good trip this year, and enjoyed it very much.

Helicopter to Avalon

When we made this year’s trip to Catalina, we went over on the helicopter. We took the boat back after our nice stay there. Click on the > button to fly with us to Avalon.

Grand Canyon

After seeing some (new to us) Native American ruins and National Monuments, we wound up at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It was one of those picturesque summer days where sun, clouds and a couple of cloudbursts in the distance could be seen.

Point Vicente Interpretive Center

After nearly seven years of being closed, the Point Vicente Interpretive Center is again open, bigger and better then ever. Perched on the cliffs above the ocean, the center features a museum about indigenous wildlife, both aquatic and otherwise. There is also a nice wing dedicated to the US Coast Guard. We watched a 30 minute movie about whales in the little theater.

UPDATE: (10/08/2014) I found another old picture of us when I was wearing this same tank top on Catalina Island in 2004:
