Pelican Point

These are more California Brown Pelicans floating along the updrafts near Point Vicente. I am compelled to post these images in spite of having shown several of them in the past. The experience of seeing these birds silently gliding past the point has always made me feel calm and relaxed. Click to see the large image.

Malaga Cove Gazebo

Last weekend, while we were down by the ocean looking for photo ops, I put my little camera on a post and took this picture of us together. The gazebo we’re standing in is located at Roessler Point at a scenic overlook with a dramatic vista of the Santa Monica Bay.

Point Vicente Visitor’s Center Panorama

Usually, when we visit the Point Vicente Interpretive Center, my camera is pointed in the opposite direction from the Center. I thought that I would take a panorama of this nice facility and put it up as a supplement to the shots we take in the opposite directions. Click the image below to see the panorama in the image viewer.

Not the Grand Canyon

The views from the roadway at Canyonlands National Park (North entrance) are just fantastic. Not the Grand Canyon, but almost . . .

Point Vicente Whale Watching Site

I took a series of snapshots with my Canon A710IS while I stood on the main observation deck of the Point Vicente Interpretive Center. At home, I used the photo stitch utility that comes with the camera to create this nice panoramic view of the main whale watching area at the center. From left to right you can see the Point Vicente Lighthouse, Catalina Island and Verna with camera in hand holding Bear‘s leash. Further right is the pathway along the cliffs, the Malibu mountains in the distance and finally the top of the amphitheater at the right.

You don’t have to pick out the features in the thumbnail below – you can click on the image for a closer look.
