On Christmas Day we went to our new house to check out a couple of things and to discuss landscaping and other finishing topics. While we were there, this bird-of-prey flew over. I snapped several images of the bird and later compared them to an Arizona bird guide pamphlet I have. The closest match to what we were seeing is the Northern Goshawk. Click on the image to enlarge.

You may be right, Lee. Last June, Verna took a photo in San Pedro of a red tailed hawk and the two photos look quite similar. Our Arizona bird pamphlet does not show the red tail in flight.
