Cactus Flowers in 3D

cactus-flowers.pngVerna posted a photo of a flower that bloomed on our new cactus. When we planted the cactus, it had three flower buds on it.

Last night, the remaining two flowers opened up. This morning, I took a pair of photos this morning, hoping to make a 3D image of the flowers. This is the result.

Of course, you will need 3D glasses to view the red/cyan anaglyph. If you don’t have a pair of 3D glasses, you can view the 2D version here.

What’s for Dinner?

Pasta Primavera and mozzarella-stuffed meatballs. This is actually a fairly healthy meal. Whole grain pasta, cauliflower, broccoli, lean ground turkey and low-fat mozzarella all topped off with Verna’s low-sodium homemade marinara sauce. Does all that healthy stuff detract from the flavor? Hell no! 😀 Click on the image to enlarge.

Planting the New Cactus

A week ago we bought a cereus cactus and brought it home. Today, we finally got it in the ground in front of the house. We are really looking forward to seeing the flowers bloom. Click on the blue play button for a slideshow of getting it into the ground.

The New Homestead in 3D

homestead.pngThis is a view of the new house taken from the west property line. I climbed up the hill and hiked along the fence until I could get an unobstructed view of the house and yard.

The RV Pull-through is at the left next to the patio. Verna’s Tomatoes and beans are planted in the pots next to the master suite wall. The back courtyard gate has yet to be installed in this view.

You will need your free pair of 3D glasses to view the 3D anaglyph picture. Of course, if you don’t have 3D glasses, you can see the 2D version here

View to the Northeast

Verna took this photo from the hilltop a couple of blocks up the road. It’s a view of the Hassayampa Valley to the northeast and the mountains beyond. The Hassayampa River originates in the mountains and flows underground for miles before flowing on the surface through this area.

I cropped Verna’s photo down to create a panorama. Click on the image to view the full-sized panorama.

Panorama of the Landscape and New House

I hiked up the hill across the road from the new house and snapped a series of photos that I combined by using the stitch feature in the Canon Zoom Browser application. I took three images from left to right which covers the front property line of the half-acre lot. During the stitching process you can accept the automatic merge function or you can specify two or more corresponding areas. I find that the latter technique makes for smoother “seams” in the final image.

I think the house has “curb appeal” even though there are no curbs on our little unpaved road. Click on the image to enlarge.
