Today, we honor the men and women who died in the attacks on Hawaii late in 1941. In the photograph below, the Officers and Crew line the flight deck of the USS Ronald Reagan, CVN-76, as they salute the war memorial at the resting place of the USS Arizona.
More than ever, we must honor our Veterans and those who serve today in the best military in the world. God Bless them in this holiday season and always.
This is a panoramic image of the canyon seen from Lookout Point on the South Rim of Grand Canyon. I took this image in 2008 during our winter vacation. Lookout Studio, with all the icicles, is on the right. Just right of center, you can see the tower atop the El Tovar Hotel. This is much different than summer conditions at the Canyon.
I have been playing with some new software the past few days. It’s a package for authoring Flash™ animations. I made our Thanksgiving e-card using the tool. I discovered a spiral object in the auto shapes component list. After playing with it for a while, I managed to get this animated spiral effect. It doesn’t do anything but it was fun to play with the new software.
Every year since we have lived here, Santa Claus and his sleigh have visited our neighborhood. It’s a tradition sponsored by the Torrance Police Officers Association.
Santa rides atop a float with a police escort. There are sirens, music and flashing lights to announce Santa’s arrival. Santa visits most residential streets. Santa and his helpers hand out candy canes to the neighborhood children.

Turkey breast with all the trimmings: mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, cranberry jelly, Verna’s killer dressing, candied yams, steamed broccoli and a buttermilk dinner roll. Thanksgiving dinner plus 3 NFL football games today equals thankfulness in our household.
