Our First Beavertail Cactus Flower

First Beavertail Cactus Flower

Well, not of all time and there have been other beavertail cacti around town with flowers opening, but this is the first on our property to open. Bob transplanted this cactus from the upper part of our lot to the rock and cactus garden by the RV drive last year. It has many more flower buds that we expect to open soon. We’re glad that this cactus decided to have lots of spring flowers. Click on the image to enlarge.

Card Sharks

We dropped over to the retirement ranch this afternoon to take some roses to Mom. Earlier, we went grocery shopping and bought flowers, as usual. Verna took a couple of the roses and some baby’s breath and put them in a little vase for Mom. See the vase image here.

When we got to the ranch, we found Mom and a half-dozen other seniors playing a game of crazy eights in the lobby of the care center. Verna took a photo of them engaged in the intense battle of cards. Click on the image to enlarge.

Hedgehog Cactus Flower

We have been expecting the hedgehog cactus flowers to open just after the first few days of spring. Well, they’re starting to open. The first two were open yesterday and a third one opened today. It looks like another will be opening tomorrow, too. This is a close-up of one of the prettiest open flowers.

We’re still waiting on our beavertail cactus flowers which should start to open soon. Click on the image to enlarge.
