Wickenburg Railroad Station

train-station.jpgHistoric Old Wickenburg is about a half-mile from our new house. One of the old buildings, the Wickenburg Railroad Station, is located beside the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks still in use. The Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce uses this building as their headquarters and to give out tourist information.

The Real Night Sconces

This is the real deal. We went outside this evening just after dark and took this image of one of our new custom sconces illuminating the house and garden. They look just the way that I expected. Click on the image to enlarge.

Kokopeli Button

This is our new door bell ringer. It’s an image of Kokopeli, the ancient Native American flute playing icon. It’s a perfect compliment for the bear sconces. Click on the image to enlarge.

Panorama – New House

This afternoon, I walked across the road from the house and snapped this panoramic image of the new house. On the left edge of the image, you can see the RV drive-through exit. The contractor graded and compacted the drive all the way from the concrete apron (right side) through the RV parking space (with full hookups) in the rear and back down to the main road. UPDATE: I liked this image so much that I integrated it into the banner for our website.

First Dinner at our New House

camping-newhouse.jpgVerna bought a couple of really nice beef tenderloin steaks (a.k.a. Fillet Mignon) at the supermarket this morning, so we decided to break out the camping cookout gear and grill ‘em up. All of the appliances are installed and working but we like steaks cooked outdoors, so we cooked them on our portable camping grill which we brought from California.

Verna also bought some microwave steamed veggies and some microwave macaroni and cheese. We usually prepare our meals from scratch, but we don’t have all the cookware and utensils to do a good job, so this is what we went with.

So, for today’s sumptuous cuisine, we sat on camping chairs, ate from plastic plates served on a fold-up table. Despite all the improvisations, today’s first dinner at the new house was a huge success.

Bear and Bear

Verna and I stopped by our new house this evening to drop off a few things. We’re still not quite ready to take occupancy since there aren’t enough furnishings to actually be comfortable. After we unloaded the stuff we brought, I walked out front and turned on the porch light. Unknowingly, I got a picture of the bear sconce at the same time that Bear appeared in the great room window.
