The Office Chair
When the Daddy isn’t using his office chair, I figure it’s fair game for me to curl up in it and relax or take a nap. Sometimes, though, the Daddy will come back in the office and make me jump out to find another place to relax. Oh well, I still love the hoomins, both the Mama and the Daddy. They give me treats. 🙂 Click on my picture to make me big.
Quail on the Seed Block
I went out back to test my big camera since I haven’t used it in a while. We have a road trip coming up and I wanted to make sure it was working OK. Just as I pointed it up to where the seed bell and block are located, a female Gambel’s Quail hopped on the block and posed. A cactus wren has it’s backside pointed at the camera on the seed bell located just below the block. Click on the image to enlarge.
Road Work
This summer, the monsoons wreaked havoc with the road in front of our little house. It ran like a river at times and eroded much of the compact soil away, leaving sand, ruts and the sewer heads exposed.
Yesterday, a crew from the town came out and mostly fixed those problems with a water truck to dampen things down and a road grader to redistribute the new dirt brought in to fill in the roadway.
It looks fine now, but monsoons will come again. Click on the image to enlarge.
Thanks for the Rain
Bob and I went into town last week and played like we were tourists. I visited several of the little shops in the area and we had lunch at the best Mexican restaurant in town. I took lots of photos, one of which was the “Thanks for the rain” bronze sculpture at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. The sculpture is by famous cowboy artist, Joe Beeler.
