Bob’s 3D Stuff

In the Garden Shop Hothouse – 3D

garden-shop.pngWhen we go to the local home improvement warehouse store, we always enjoy visiting the garden shop. We both like looking at the landscaping plants, trees, flowers and succulents.

The hothouse is where you can find some of the more exotic tropical plants and flowers. There are orchids, ferns and a variety of other tropical items.

This hothouse is also where you can find garden pottery, specialty plant fertilizer, seeds and garden accessories. The other day, we were in the hothouse and I took a pair of images to merge into this anaglyph. Click on the image to see full-size. You will need a pair of 3D glasses to see the stereo image, so if you don’t have your free pair yet, you can see the 2D version here.

Harley-Davidson and Sidecar in 3D

bikersfield.pngI spotted this nice ride up on the central coast of California during the recent road trip. It was parked near Morro Rock, overlooking the bay just in the background.

The sidecar is an aftermarket accessory manufactured by Liberty Sidecars of Seattle. It sure makes for an attractive addition to an already nice motorcycle.

Camping RV Style – 3D

buellton-rv-park.pngOur first campground during our recent vacation was at Buellton, in the Santa Ynez Valley, just north and a little west from Santa Barbara along US Route 101. We pulled into the RV park, “Flying Flags” and set up the camp.

I took an image pair from behind the twenty-four foot trailer we rented from Cruise America to combine into this 3D image. Click on the image to enlarge.

As usual, you can view our campsite without 3D glasses by clicking on the 2D version here.

A Madagascar Palm in 3D

madagascar-palm.pngI took this 3D image of a Madagascar Palm in the cactus and succulent section of the Botanic Gardens.

During late spring and summer, this part of the garden is very nice since many species are in bloom. The Madagascar Palm will get its blooms later in the summer. We’re planning to visit the garden again and will be watching for them.

Wikipedia offers this description of Pachypodium lamerei:

Pachypodium lamerei is a species of Pachypodium. It has large thorns and leaves mostly just at the top of the plant. It is a stem succulent and comes from the island Madagascar. The plant bears large, fragrant flowers. The species has become one of the best known pachypodiums in cultivation, being relatively easy to propagate and grow. In cultivation it is often marketed as the “Madagascar Palm”, despite in not being a palm at all.

Fountain in the Rose Garden – in 3D

garden-fountain.pngEvery time that we go to the Botanic Gardens, and we go often, we stroll through the Rose Garden. Last Friday was no exception. We were there a few weeks ago, and this fountain had been removed for cleaning and maintenance. Friday, it was back in its place and looked beautiful.

I stood at one end of the walkway and snapped two images for the 3D view.

Of course, in case you haven’t sent for your free pair of 3D glasses, you can see the 2D version here.

Grand Canyon 3D from 2008

Grand Canyon in 3DI was rummaging around in the photo archives from our Summer 2008 vacation and I found another image pair from the Grand Canyon that could be merged into a 3D anaglyph. This was taken from near Mather Point along the South Rim of the Canyon. In the distance, is another canyon wall which is also on the South Rim across the chasm from this point.

In the foreground, you can see narrowleaf mesquite and scrub conifer shrubbery growing among the rocky cliff walls. Just behind this area in walking distance, lies Grand Canyon Village where hotels, shops and restaurants abound.
