Critters

Desert Rustica

Desert Rustica

This is the fence that isolates our shooting range from Constellation road. It is typical of many fences in our desert community. Rustic posts and barbed wire keep the large critters out, but small things can come in although the gunfire tends to keep them at bay. Click on the image to enlarge.

Walking The Dogs

Walking The Dogs

We had a rather large dinner this afternoon. As has become tradition, we walk the dinner off by taking the dogs for a walk. Verna took this picture of me carrying Cabela, since the little dog was pulling on the leash so hard she almost knocked me down. I don’t mind carrying her and neither does she until she sees something she wants to take a close look (or sniff). Click on the image to enlarge.

Scorpion Glow

Scorpion GlowI apologize for posting this out-of-focus picture of a dead scorpion on the RV drive, but the lighting conditions weren’t too good to avoid a slight camera motion that blurred the image. At any rate, I just wanted to show how these little beasties show up if you put ultraviolet light (a.k.a. black light) on them.

A while back, we bought little hand held flash lights with UV LEDs just for the purpose of detecting scorpions. Cabela found this one on the patio (thank goodness it was already dead) and I found a couple in the garage the other night using the UV flashlight.
