Waiting for Breakfast
No matter what I did to try and get the dogs to look at the camera, they remained riveted on the kitchen where the Mama was fixing their breakfast. They remained focused like this until hearing the carton of cottage cheese open up which means they get to lick the spoon after the Mama loads some in their dishes. Then, in a blink of an eye, they dash for the kitchen.
They both are very smart and perceptive. Bay Bay used to be afraid of the meat grinder and would hide in his “man cave” behind the sofa. Now, when he hears the grinder stop, he comes out expecting to get some of the raw meat and bread left in the screw. He and Cabela each get a little of the “bread and beef tartare.”
Cabela figured out that I keep a jar of peanuts at my desk and can hear when I open the lid so she comes expecting a nut. She usually gets one and in order to be fair so does Bay Bay.
Scenes from the Dog Park
This slideshow is of our visit to the Wickenburg Dog Park today. Cabela and Bay Bay always have a lot of fun when we go. The Mama and the Daddy also get a little exercise chasing these two around the park for three laps or so. Click on the slideshow above to advance through the seven images.
Vigil
Cabela and Bay Bay anxiously wait at the backdoor screen while the Mama is out back throwing veggie scraps in the wash for the local critters. They would like for the Mama to give them the scraps, but there were too many of them for a couple of eighteen pounders.
Regardless, they paid close attention while the Mama did the distribution for the wild critters. Click on the image to enlarge.
Playing With the New Camera
I got myself a new Canon EOS Rebel SL1 camera as a late Christmas present to myself. I also bought the book “SL1 for Dummies” as a reference. I studied the text and began to find opportunities to hone my skills as a photographer like Verna already has for years.
I found that our little Beethoven is a willing subject for my ventures into the world of photojournalism. He is not intimidated by the camera and he (sometimes) poses at my verbal command. Cabela, not so much. She tries to bite the camera if I get it too close to her.
Bay Bay was on the spa cover in the back patio and posed while I took several photos of him using a camera mode and settings good for portraits, according the “Dummies” text. I liked this one that captures the details of his handsome little face while pleasantly blurring the background such as to draw the observer’s attention to the dog.
