Sharing Targets at the Range

When we go to the range to practice, we generally share a target. We use one for the revolvers and generally change it out when we switch to the 9mm pistols. Most of the time when a target gets perforated to the point of not being able to see where the rounds are going, we will paste on one of those fluorescent glows-where-you-hit-it targets. For shotguns, we put up 2 x 3 foot silhouette targets.

Although we generally know who is hitting where on the target, there is some ambiguity. At the end of the video here you will see that even though there are shots all over the target, we are collectively getting pretty good at hitting the center a lot of the time.

The Eyes Have It

Bear is such a faithful and gentle dog. She was watching me take pictures in the back yard when I turned and shot this one of her. I had the zoom set for close up, and luckily got her face centered in the frame.

Off to Catalina Again

It’s our anniversary week and later today, in our tradition, we’re off on a pilgrimage to the place we got married – the city of Avalon on Catalina Island. We will be crossing the Catalina Channel on the Island Express helicopter, which takes about fifteen minutes. I shot this video last year on the helicopter trip over to the Avalon Heliport.

Our plans are to visit some of our favorite places like the shops on Crescent Avenue and the botanic gardens in the hills behind the town. We plan to do a bit more hiking this time, and will probably climb the hill up to the Chime Tower. We’re looking forward to this trip. We will try and update the blog from the island with some photos and posts about the island.

Oh No! 10,000 Miles On The Sebring!

sebring.jpgAfter nearly eight years, my little Chrysler Sebring Convertible has finally passed 10,000 miles on the odometer. I know – most people have that sort of mileage after a few months of ownership, but I got this little car just about the time I retired from the daily grind, and settled down to take care of the domicile, the puppies, my gardens and my husband. Not a bad gig after all those years of wiping noses and butts raising the kids as a mother and wiping noses and butts taking care of customers as a sales representative.

9999.jpgI only drive it for recreation, when I need to run an errand by myself or when the truck is in the shop. That was the case last week when the SUV had a flat tire, and my little car had to go to work for a day. When it went, the odometer read 9999 on the way out of the driveway.

Flat in the Driveway

gar-flatJJ’s truck woke up with a problem. Verna noticed it and told him. After a while, our neighbor Don offered the use of a floor jack, even though there is one in our garage. I guess JJ didn’t know.

This picture is from one of the two webcams we have looking at the street. You can see both of them in real time (refresh for latest image) in the bottom of the left sidebar on the main page.

Oh No! Not the Flashy Thing Again!

That’s what Baby Drake seems to be saying in this snapshot I took when Miguel and Tracy brought him over for his first visit to our house.

Drake is about three weeks old, and seems to be very alert and interactive for his age. We also enjoyed seeing Kane, Jayden, Vanessa, Tony, and Carol. We love you guys!
