Magazines and Ammunition

Magazines and AmmoLook what the FedEx truck brought today! Two Magpul PMAG 30 round magazines and a hundred rounds of 5.56×45 55 grain rounds to fill ’em up. We had a small refund from the IRS and Arizona Department of Revenue and thought that we should invest part of the money in ammunition.

We were going to the shooting range today, but it’s still a little cool and windy for us. We will make our pilgrimage when the weather warms up a bit. We need the practice and are anxious to shoot the AR-15 some more.

ISP Maintenance Scheduled

jackhammer.pngOur internet service provider has notified us that there may be intermittent outages in our MySQL access over the weekend. Please tune back in after it’s over. Thanks.

The weekend of February 16th and 17th Omnis Network will be performing deep cleaning of the equipment in our data center. The cleaning may require the halting of some services such as POP/IMAP Email or MySQL database for up to one hour while the physical server is thoroughly cleaned.

Maintenance Day

Maintenance Day

Here I am on the roof of the “Albatross” sawing off a dead palm frond. I also sawed off three palm berry pods. Our eventual plan is to have four of the palms removed from the property, but that won’t happen until next summer when some new financial arrangements will be made.

In the meantime, we have to make trips to take care of some of the maintenance items. Verna removed most of a prickly pear cactus that fell over since we last were here. It’s a pain for now, because we have to remove ourselves from our beautiful Arizona home to attend to matters here.

Five Year Food Blog Anniversary

chix-pasta1.jpgThis month marks the fifth anniversary of our Food Blog, a repository for weekend cuisine and other appetizing things. We originally established the blog as a place to discuss weekend menus and post the results with an image or two.

Before we retired, we used the VernaBob chatroom to communicate with each other while I was at work. Many of those chat transcripts appeared in the posts prior to 10/01/2009, the date I retired – and retired the chatroom, although it still works if needed.

The image above was the first meal we posted on the blog, although there is a recipe posted the same month for one of our favorite Tex-Mex chicken chile verde dishes. Click here to see the original archive for February 2008.
