What’s for Dinner?

Jägerschnitzel

Jägerschnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat, gedünstetes Kraut und Speck serviert mit Apfelmus (breaded pork cutlets with German potato salad, sauteed cabbage and bacon served with applesauce). My high school German is a bit rusty, so I used Microsoft Translator to help out.

Verna, being mostly of Irish extract, did an outstanding job of cranking out this traditional German meal. We have had a variant of this meal in recent months, but this is the first time she prepared hot German potato salad to go with it. Es schmeckte wunderbar!

Rainy Day Snuggles

Rainy Day Snuggles

We had some rain and wind today (and a little snow in the hills). It stayed nice inside though and the puppies liked keeping warm on the couch with the Daddy. Click on the image to enlarge.

Cactus Shot

Verna was taking pictures of a cactus next to the RV drive while I was up on the hill taking a picture of her. I combined my photo of her and her photo of a cholla into the animation above. Roll your mouse over the image to see the other one. Roll out to go back.

Verna Day

Verna Day

Every so often, Verna declares a “Verna Day,” when she pampers herself with a hot shower, facial, shampoo and the works. Well, today I was up on the hill at the bird feeders when I took this photo of Verna letting her hair dry in the warm Arizona sun. Click on the image to enlarge.

The Hog Trough in 3D

The Hog Trough - 3DToday was “Junk Food Day,” the once-a-month trip to one of our local restaurants to get something decadent, but good, of course. This is the Nearly Famous Hog Trough BBQ and Smokehouse, located in the old downtown area of Wickenburg. Click on the image to enlarge.

I rendered this 3D image in shades of gray rather than color for two reasons; the blue sky background looks black with one eye and gray with the other, also the little hog on the sign is pink, which looks white with one eye and purple with he other. Images like this one are sort of uncomfortable to view in color.

Of course, you will need your free pair of 3D glasses to view the anaglyph image. If you don’t have your 3D glasses you can view the 2D color image here.
