Verna and I stopped by our new house this evening to drop off a few things. We’re still not quite ready to take occupancy since there aren’t enough furnishings to actually be comfortable. After we unloaded the stuff we brought, I walked out front and turned on the porch light. Unknowingly, I got a picture of the bear sconce at the same time that Bear appeared in the great room window. Spirit of Santa Monica in 3D
During our drive to our dentist in Santa Monica, CA, we took a side trip through Santa Monica Airport where I learned to fly. Since the last time I was there, the city erected this monument to the memory of Donald Douglas who founded Douglas Aircraft. His company built many airplanes in Santa Monica.
The airplane is the venerable DC3 which is still in use some places in the world today. The plane sits on three pillars designed to give it a jaunty climbing left turn attitude. A bronze statue of Donald Douglas and his dog “Bar” (short for Wunderbar – German for wonderful).

New Home Status Slideshow
I threw this slideshow together to show to our family before heading back to Wickenburg next week. I’m posting it here as well as on our other website for posterity.
You will recognize some of the pictures we previously posted here with a few extras thrown in like a nearby landmark railroad station, our tankless water heater and some desert critters. You can pause the slideshow by rolling your mouse cursor over the images and resume by rolling the cursor out of the images.
