Quail Chicks
We haven’t noticed any quail chicks on our property, although we did see some several weeks ago on the other side of town. This evening, after getting out of the spa and while we were drying off, I saw a family of quail with two adults and three juveniles.

I couldn’t tell the gender of the little ones, but they definitely appear to be adolescents foraging with the mama and daddy quail. I was afraid we wouldn’t see any little ones but this evening we have.
The Spa is Here!!
Verna took these before and after images of the third bay in the patio. I cropped the two images into a before and after the new spa arrived today. After unwrapping and moving the spa into position, we filled it, put the chemicals in and started enjoying it just about an hour and a half after it showed up. Click on the image to enlarge.
Flower Buds Under the Hooks and Spines
If you look closely beneath the hooks and spines on this little fishhook cactus, you can see the buds where several new flowers will appear. This cactus had a flower earlier this week. Click on the image to enlarge.
Sun Rays Shining Through the Clouds
This is the time of year in central Arizona when the cumulus clouds form in the afternoons. Yesterday, we had a little rain and we heard thunder and saw lightning. That could yet happen this evening. I was out in the yard and spotted this nice cloudscape. Click on the image to enlarge.
The Orchard
Well, it’s only two trees – a lemon and an orange – but we call it the ‘orchard.’ When we got the courtyard landscape shrubs and tree, we also had the crew plant the citrus trees next to the RV drive. There is a single orange growing but there are a bunch of lemons as you can see from the image above. Click to enlarge.
