Monsooner Or Later
Occasionally, these nice puffy cumulus clouds will band together to form thunderstorms. We’re in monsoon season from now until September. Sooner or later, we will get lightning, thunder and a gully-washer cloudburst. Our first storm of the season here was on July 3rd. We kind of like ’em despite the increased humidity. New Decor for the Office
Now that the furniture is (mostly) in place, Verna and I have been gradually acquiring native American, southwestern and old west knick-knacks and art for decorating the rooms with themes appropriate to our historic old western town. Today, we had some time to kill before collecting the dogs from the groomer so we stopped into one of the local gift and souvenir shops. We have been in this shop before where I was fascinated with most of the hand-made dioramas of old western towns. I decided to get one of them for the office.
I hung it over the desk this afternoon. Click on the thumbnail above to see the full-sized panorama. Note some of the funny signs and other humorous stuff.
More Home Improvement
We have been putting off getting a shower door for the little bathroom. Our contractor was going to install a shower curtain, but we told him we wanted something else. Verna wants to get a European-style splash guard rather than a full sliding door. We contacted a shower door company and they should be out sometime tomorrow to measure and show samples. This is the before picture of the little bathroom. Click to enlarge.
The Neighborhood
I spoke with an old friend on the phone yesterday. We were getting caught up on all the latest events since I talked to him roughly six months ago. One of the topics (naturally) was the new house. A specific topic about the proximity of neighbors came up. I told him that our closest neighbors were just across the road, but that other neighbors were scattered around on larger parcels. In the photo, you can see our house (red circle) and our closest neighbors. Note that the aerial photo was taken before the house was finished, but the rest of the neighborhood is like it appears today.
