Sentry Dog II

No, this isn’t a picture of doggie jail.

A week ago I wrote about our dog, Bear, who loves to be my constant companion. Well, today I got past her once again while she slept and went upstairs. When I came back down, she greeted me as usual and then positioned herself halfway up the staircase to make sure that wouldn’t happen again.

Watchdog

While I’m the garden, my constant companion, Bear, keeps me company and watches over me while I putter around. I was taking some photos yesterday and turned around to take this photo of her.

Happy Birthday Dad

mom-dad-birthdayAlthough Dad’s Birthday is actually tomorrow, today the family celebrated at the Sizzler, one of Dad’s favorite places to eat (if not the favorite). We drove down to help celebrate and to take pictures of the event. In this first photo, Mom and Dad are enjoying their meal – notice the necklace around Dad’s neck – each blue bubble has rolled-up money inside. It looked funny and sort of neat at the same time.

verna-drake.jpgA bunch of Dad’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were there. Aunt Verna loves the babies and, of course, I wanted to hold baby Drake. He’s the most recently-born great-grandchild. He sat with me for about ten or fifteen minutes before getting a little fussy and wanting to go to someone he knows a little better. Drake and Jayden, his older brother came with their Mom Tracy and older sister Vanessa.

at-the-siz.jpgAlso at the gathering were the kids, in-laws and friends. Carol and Rod brought Tony (who recently broke his hand – ow!), Fred, Sherry, Matt and Kathy were there as well. Also seen are Brenda and Gene, Liz, JJ and Sara, Diane, Adriana, Gail and Billie.

It was nice to see everybody there helping Dad to celebrate his 78th birthday.

Family Affair

When the weather gets a little damp, that doesn’t keep us from our weekly session cleaning guns after the trip to the firing range. Today, we set up our table under the canopy and put up the folding chairs so we could get the job done while still enjoying the patio. Even Bear gets involved with it. Notice the little ice cream cup on the table. It’s actually a ‘Frosty Paw’ – a frozen dog treat that she knows is there and is anxious to consume.

New Years Eve

We took a drive today in the convertible since it was such a nice day. Verna drove us to Malaga Cove and afterwards to get some DVDs to watch on the new TV tonight.
