In the distance, you can see the two dominant snow-capped peaks overlooking the Banning Pass; Mount San Jacinto and Mount San Gorgonio. In the valley below, you can see the darker group of hills that mark the boundary of the Pacific and North American tectonic plates, also known as the San Andreas Fault.

Point Vicente Panoramic Image

This one is wider than usual, panning from the lighthouse to the right of the Malibu coastline in the distance. Verna had been taking photos of the lighthouse and surf from the fence. Click on the small panorama to see the big one.

Walk in the Park

It was a blustery day by the seashore, so we dressed warm to avoid the wind chill. We went for a walk and then I went home to take a nap.

Digital Keyboard

Several months back (a year maybe?) my digital keyboard gave up the ghost. I have been thinking about a replacement, so I went on-line and ordered this one. It’s a Yamaha 61-key synthesizer. It got very good reviews and was priced around $270 USD including shipping and accessories.

I started playing when I was five years old and I have almost always had a piano or organ, so I sort of missed having one. I’m looking forward to playing this nice new shiny rig.

From the South Coast Botanic Gardens web pages:

The Cactus Garden came into being in the early 1970’s, through the dedication of the South Coast Cactus & Succulent Society. Many hours were spent planning and designing this specialty garden. This garden features a desert setting with extensive displays of exotic cactus and succulents found in arid areas all over the world. As part of our ongoing Plant Identification Project, over 100 identifying labels have been placed in the Cactus Garden.
