Waiting for the Spring Flowers

We’re anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring and the wonderful desert flowers it brings. This is a slideshow from last year showing several of our beautiful, colorful flowers. This reminds us of how much we like seeing spring unfold and looking to the summer season as well.

Koi Pond Water Zen

Koi Pond Water Zen

Just outside of the specialist clinic wing of the local hospital, you can see a koi pond complete with water lilies and some nice, plump koi fish. Between the calm and graceful movement of the koi beneath the water and the shimmering ripples reflecting sky light, this peaceful pond offers a calming effect to those who come here for health problems. Winter Sundown

Winter Sundown

This was the view from the RV drive just after sunset this evening. Today marks the halfway point between winter solstice and spring equinox and that means that we are in the “dead” of winter. Thankfully, that is still quite a mild condition here in our beautiful Arizona home. Click on the image to enlarge.

Nothing more to say but that Verna did an outstanding job for the big game’s food and refreshments: five layer bean dip and Buffalo chicken pizza. Click on the images to enlarge.

A Helicopter-Shaped Cloud

A Helicopter-Shaped Cloud

After dinner today, Verna looked out of the front window and saw a cloud that appeared to look like the silhouette of an aircraft. She grabbed her camera and got this image of the phenomenon before it morphed into a randomly shaped cloud.

I remembered that there is a term to describe seeing objects in nature that one perceives as resembling something else. However, I could not remember the exact term so I did an internet search on “clouds that resemble things” and found the following result on Askville which led me to Wikipedia:

Pareidolia

Pareidolia (parr-i-DOH-lee-uh) is a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant, a form of apophenia. Common examples include seeing images of animals or faces in clouds, the man in the moon or the Moon rabbit, and hearing hidden messages on records when played in reverse.

Interesting. And I’m still a nerd as a senior citizen. Click on the image to enlarge.

Arizona Sunset

Arizona Sunset

We had a cloud cover most of the day, with a forecast of a ten percent chance of rain. Well, the rain didn’t come but the chance for a beautiful sunset is one hundred percent. Click on the image to enlarge.
