Up To The Minute Weather

Verna and I drove to the dentist this morning. On the way back, she took this interesting photo of an “Up to the Minute Weather” station. Click on the image to enlarge.

Red Rose and Remembering Dad on Father’s Day

A little over a year ago, Verna’s Dad passed away. The company I worked for sent a bouquet with a nice variety of flowers. Among them, this bright red rose caught Verna’s attention so she took this image of it. She took the photo exactly one year ago. Click on the image to enlarge.

White Epiphyllum Flowers

Yesterday, our white epiphyllum second and third flowers of the season opened. Epiphyllum is nicknamed the cactus orchid – you can see why. These two flowers along with the host plant are in a seldom passed location outside the back gate so we decided to pick them and put them in a vase in the house where we can enjoy their short but sweet beauty. Cooper’s Hawk

We went out to the memorial park today to put out some Fathers Day decorations for Verna’s Dad. On our way into the place, we spotted a Cooper’s Hawk swooping low over the ground. Verna took this photo of it during a low pass. It appeared to have some prey on the ground somewhere although we couldn’t see anything there. Cooper’s Hawk sure is a handsome bird.
