Wickenburg Railroad Siding and Switch

Wickenburg Siding and Switch

I took an image of the railroad track the other day. We crossed the BNSF track at Yavapai, just north of the old train station. There is a siding (seldom used) and a switch for directing the train cars onto the siding. When rendered in sepia, the shot looks like it could have been taken last century. Saturday Sundown

We had a nice day watching sports on TV and enjoying some wonderful (if I do say so myself) Tex Mex Chicken Chili Verde. Click on the image to enlarge.

Vulture Peak Panorama

Vulture Peak Panorama

Verna took an image looking west from Castle Hot Springs Road yesterday. I cut her image down to make this nice panoramic image of the Sonoran Desert with Vulture Peak in the distance. Very pretty scenery. Click on the image to view the full-sized panorama.

Sonoran Delights

Sonoran Delights

After shopping in Surprise today, we took a drive up toward Castle Hot Springs. The area up there is a beautiful Sonoran Desert saguaro forest with teddy bear cholla, compass cactus and prickly pear among the usual creosote and mesquite. Click on the image to enlarge.

US Highway 60 Improvements

US Highway 60 Improvements

Through most of the summer, the Arizona Department of Transpiration has been working on a one mile stretch of US Highway 60 (Wickenburg Way) through the west side of town. Now, the work is nearly completed with just some landscape details along the roadside remaining. Click on the image to enlarge.
