The Dog Park
Verna and I took the dogs to the Wickenburg Dog Park today. It was sort of a blustery, but not cold, spring day but the dogs did not notice nor care. They enjoyed running free, chasing around the park and were generally enjoying themselves.
When they had their fill of all this freedom and exercise, they came to the exit gate ready to get back on their leashes and head home. Click on the image above to alternate between two scenes Verna captured at the park.
Bird Nest in Progress
We were out looking at the cactus and wildflowers this morning. I noticed some white threads or something in a cholla cactus next to the RV drive. A closer inspection revealed that some birds may have been trying to build a nest in the cholla. Cactus wrens, curve billed thrashers and other desert birds have been known to build nests in cacti. The white threads are dental floss that we have been tossing into the wash behind the house for just this purpose; so that birds will have some fiber for their nests. Click on the image to enlarge.
Important Retirement Jobs
Verna took this photo of me and Cabela as we were returning down the road from our mid-morning walk. Verna was walking with Bay Bay following us down the road toward our house seen in the background on the left.
Walking with the dogs is one of the most important occupations that we, as seniors, have. It gives them the necessary trip outdoors to do whatever comes naturally, and it gives us some very beneficial exercise during the several trips taken each day. Click on the image to enlarge.
Bob and the Dogs
Verna took this picture of me posing with the dogs on our driveway this afternoon. We were just coming back from a walk down the road. Left to right: Cabela, a five year old female blue and tan Miniature Pinscher (cropped and bobbed) and Beethoven (Bay Bay) a four year old male red Miniature Pinscher with original ears and tail.
The dogs keep us entertained and busy – Verna and I love ’em both. And yes, it IS tank-top weather in Wickenburg today. Click on the image to enlarge.
