Panoramic Image Before Wall Work Starts

Before Panorama

Next week, if all goes according to schedule, the masonry crew will show up to start building four walls on the property. Two of them, a short one on the left of the RV drive and a longer one to the right will fortify the front of the landscape against the rushing waters we seem to get annually in monsoon season. The panorama above (click to enlarge) is the “before” view of the property.

The other two walls will be behind the RV drive out back and a shorter one in the wash itself to divert runoff to the little creek on the west side of the lot. Both walls are to prevent runoff from coming onto the RV drive in back.

I will try to post an “after” panorama when the work is complete.

Clouds, Dry River and Mountains Panorama

Clouds Panorama

On our way back from the Ford dealer this morning (we had to return the GMC seats for our trade-in) (love the new truck, by the way), Verna took an image of the cloudscape over the mountains in the distance as we crossed the Hassayampa River. The clouds are forming over the Bradshaw and Weaver Mountains twenty plus miles distant, while the underground riverbed dominates the foreground in this image. Two Tall Palm Trees

Two Tall Palm Trees

Our California second home is currently undergoing some remodeling, so we had to stay in a hotel this time out to visit family and friends. The place we stayed in Torrance, CA, had some really tall palm trees in their landscape scheme. I took two images of the two palms next to our room and combined them into this vertical panoramic image. Click on the image to see in the image viewer.

Sonoran Desert Panorama

Sonoran Desert Panorama

Verna snapped a photo of the desert today on our way home from the valley. I cropped it down and made this panorama of the Sonoran Desert between Wittmann and Morristown along US route 60. It was a wonderful spring day with mild temperatures, partly cloudy skies and very little traffic! Click on the image to enlarge to full-sized panorama.

3D Martian Landscape

Martian 3D Panorama

I found this 3D image on the Astronomy Picture Of The Day today. You will need your free pair of 3D glasses to view properly. Sorry, no 2D image available. Click on the image to enlarge.

The panoramic stereo view is composed of images from the roving Curiosity’s Navcam taken at a rest stop during a 100 meter drive on Sol 548 (February 19). The 5.5 kilometer high peak of Mount Sharp, also known as Aeolis Mons, is on the horizon, its base a destination for Curiosity. In the foreground are rows of striated rocks along the Junda outcrop. Centered toward the south-southeast the scene spans 160 degrees.

Mom’s Courtyard Panorama

Mom’s Courtyard Panorama

Verna snapped a couple of photos of the view outside of Mom’s apartment at the ranch. I merged them into this single panoramic image of Mom’s view out of her window. The oleanders on the left and the marigolds around the fountain are all in bloom now. Click on the image to enlarge.
