We took a scenic drive up to the northeast from town today. When we got to the summit of Scenic Loop Drive, Verna took an image back toward town. I cropped the image into a panoramic view of the Hassayampa River with Wickenburg in the distance and Vulture Peak and the Vulture Mountains beyond. We took a little ride today up to Yarnell, a little mountain mining town on State Route 89 north of Wickenburg. There is a steep, winding section of the road between Congress and Yarnell. On the downhill side, there is a scenic pull-out with this view of the valley south of the Weaver Mountains.
I composed this panoramic view of the valley from three exposures which I later stitched into this panoramic image. On the horizon, you can see Vulture Peak towards the left of the image; moving right, you can see the Harcuhala and Harcuvar mountain ranges toward the right of the image. In the valley below, you can see a large stockyard in the left center and the town of Congress toward the right. Click on the panorama for the full-size view.
Years ago, my son Gerald attended classes at the J.H. Hull Middle School. Since 2007, the old school has been demolished and rebuilt. The finishing touches are just being applied. Bob took this panoramic image today after shopping. Click on the image to enlarge.
One of our neighbors who lives up the hill to the west of us asked us to keep an eye on her property while she is away in Montana. We took a walk up the road this morning to check her place out and while in the pool area, I snapped several images to merge into this composite panoramic image. You can see our little red house just to the right of center in the image. Just look at those beautiful mountains in the distance. Click on the image to enlarge.
Now that the furniture is (mostly) in place, Verna and I have been gradually acquiring native American, southwestern and old west knick-knacks and art for decorating the rooms with themes appropriate to our historic old western town. Today, we had some time to kill before collecting the dogs from the groomer so we stopped into one of the local gift and souvenir shops. We have been in this shop before where I was fascinated with most of the hand-made dioramas of old western towns. I decided to get one of them for the office.

Verna got out the wide-angle lens for her Canon EOS camera today and walked across the road to capture this panoramic image of (most) of the front property line. You can see the RV drive-thru on the left and the concrete driveway on the right. Most of the landscaping is already in place but we expect to acquire an ocotillo to be placed near the courtyard gate. Next summer, the little plum tree by the gate should be a lot larger and fuller.
