Down US89A from the Grand Canyon, toward Navajo Country, is the Cameron Trading Post. This has been one of our favorite stops in Arizona for years. Last night, we stayed in the building just behind us. Overlooking the Little Colorado River canyon, with a nice little garden, this is a beautiful spot!

In between rainy squalls, we were able to visit some of the canyon’s vista points. It was great! This is Verna at one of our stops.

We visited the railroad powerhouse in Kingman, AZ where I got this picture of Bob climbing into an old steam locomotive. Today is his birthday!

On our way into Lake Havasu City, we paused to look at Parker Dam, behind which Lake Havasu was formed as a result of the dam. Verna was taking pictures of the dam and some boats on the Colorado River.

After some recent work installing a retaining wall and new sidewalk, Douglas Street at Rosecrans in Manhattan Beach has a different look. Click the picture to enlarge and pan to the far right side.

For several weeks now, this little squirrel has been seen running across the cables on the poles out back and coming into the yard to feed from the bird feeders. It also may be responsible for some damage we see in the garden. This may be the same squirrel we caught in April. As you can see, it’s in the cage of our Havahart trap which had been set for several days prior. It got trapped when Verna threw a piece of her banana in the trap and the little beggar couldn’t resist.
We took it to a park about a mile away and let it go there. I thought that would work, but the very next morning, this squirrel was back chirping and taunting the dog (and Verna). I guess it likes it here.
We plan to get it again and repatriate it to a golf course near my place of business, which should be far enough that it can’t find it’s way back anytime soon. Squirrels - rats with good press agents.

When I take my walkabout after eating lunch, I pass a lot of places that have flowers. I took these today and threw them into a slideshow for you.
