There seems to be several varieties of orange lilies that are referred to as “Tiger Lily.” This spotted orange lily is one of those varieties.
The colors here are orange with deep maroon spots – not exactly like black tiger stripes, but evidently close enough for the nickname. I’m OK with that, otherwise I’d have to call it “Lilium lancifolium,” which takes all the romance out of it.
