The Needles of Utah Canyonlands

Canyonlands National Park is in Southern Utah, west of US Hwy. 191. The confluence of the Green River and the Colorado River is about in the center of this vast, scenic land. Canyonlands has two entrances, one north and one south – it is impossible to drive in one entrance and go out the other because of a two-thousand foot cliff and wide rivers in the middle. On the day we went to this park (both entrances) and Arches National Park. Bob found it hard to believe that I nearly filled up my 4 gigabyte camera memory module – over 1000 images! What can I say – it was all so interesting and beautiful. We watched a feature-length slide show in our room that night. This picture is of a formation referred to as “needles.” Click on the image for full-sized.
