New Dockside Catalina Webcam

Catalina Express installed a new webcam on Avalon’s landing dock. The new camera shows the dock, any vessels that might be there and the Casino in the background. You can view the image here. This is an image I captured this morning:

Thanks for the Rain

thanks-rain.pngWhen we were in Wickenburg, AZ a couple of weeks ago, we visited the old western downtown area. The storefronts and the general appearance of the town are in the 1880s western architectural style.

The bronze sculpture in front of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum is called “Thanks for the Rain” and depicts an old cowpoke kneeling in front of his horse.

I captured a pair of images which I later merged into the 3D image. Click on the thumbnail to see the full-sized 3D image. If you don’t have your free pair of 3D glasses, you can see the 2D version here.

Duck and Waterfall

Verna and I went to the South Coast Botanic Garden today for the bonsai show. After viewing the bonsai on display, we visited the koi pond. A couple of ducks have adopted the pond lately. I took a picture of one of them wading in the pond’s waterfall. Click on the image to enlarge.

Wildflowers in the Gutter

wildflower.jpg

Earlier this month, when we were on vacation, we saw wildflowers everywhere it seemed. Today, while out running errands, Verna snapped this picture of a pair of pink wildflowers growing out of a crack in the concrete gutter. I guess when you’re in an urban location, vacant land is few and far between and the wildflowers have to find somewhere to grow.

Fixing the Wall

Our neighbors are doing a face lift on their home. As a part of that work, they were kind enough to offer to fix an eyesore. A few years ago, a car went over the curb and hit their wall. They repaired it, but the patchwork was clearly visible on our side of the wall ever since the incident. Today, the neighbors’ construction crew put on a coat of concrete. In a few days, they will paint it white to match our fence and gate.

New Neighbors

Earlier this month, we drove to Arizona to the town where we’re planning to relocate. While we were there we saw some of the neighbors on a hillside waving at us. Click on the image to zoom out.
