The Birdman of Wickenburg

The Birdman of Wickenburg

One of our most enjoyable toils in retirement is to keep the bird feeders full to attract the little critters. Verna gets some pretty good images of the little feathered visitors to the feeders. Verna took this photo of me filling the feeders today. The red bottle to my left contains anti-squirrel spray to ensure that the furry little thieves keep away from the treats for the birds. Down the Road

Taking the dogs for an after dinner walk, we looked down the road from our house and saw this nice desert mountain scape with a waxing gibbous moon this afternoon. Click on the image to enlarge.

Bishop’s Hat Cactus Flowers

Bishop’s Hat Cactus Flowers

We had a beautiful “second spring” day today in which the temperature got up to about 78°. Most areas of the country refer this sort of weather as “Indian Summer,” but here it’s second spring. After all, summer here is more like 102° and who wants that after summer is over.

These beautiful flowers opened on my Bishop’s Cap cactus. I also had some flowers open on the Devil’s Tongue. Click on the image to enlarge.
