Snow Bear II
After we got to the KOA in Flagstaff, Bear tested her snow feet by heading out into a couple of feet of the crispy white stuff. She had never been in snow before and actually seemed to like the adventure.

Scotty’s Castle
We woke up in Pahrump, Nevada, and will fall asleep in California City, California tonight. In the middle, we visited Death Valley National Park, where Scotty’s Castle is one of the attractions.

Kingman Locomotive
This beauty is a 4-8-4 steam engine locomotive, popularly used along the main railroads criss-crossing the nation in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We stopped in the Old Historic Route 66 section of Kingman, AZ, today and spent some time enjoying the nostalgia. Click on the image below for a larger version.
Snow Bear
Bear has been so good on this trip. She is undaunted by the snow (I think she likes it) and she seems to enjoy traveling with us. Bob and Bear stroll through the snow near the rim of the Grand Canyon in this shot.

Abert Squirrel
Last night we stayed in snowy Flagstaff, Arizona. When we got up this morning, we took Bear for a walk – she was very interested in this little Abert Squirrel who was gorging on pine nuts from the Ponderosas in the campground.

Aberts, or ‘tassel-eared’ squirrels are native to this region. North of Grand Canyon, their cousins, the Kaibab Squirrel abounds in isolation at the North Rim of the Canyon.
We will have pictures from the South Rim of Grand Canyon on tomorrow’s post.
