Saguaro Sunset
There was a pleasantly pink sunset this evening, so I went out and photographed the event with our beautiful saguaro cactus in the foreground. Click on the image to enlarge.
Desert Ground Squirrel
I was up in the wash this morning stacking up a few river rocks to divert flash flood water around the little burm that our contractor constructed to protect the RV pull-through when the monsoons come. When I was up there, a very small (six inches in length) ground squirrel stood up to beg for a handout (I think). It was a bold little so-and-so, standing on hind legs about four feet away. Ocotillo in Bloom
This ocotillo (oh-co-tee-yo) was in bloom in the old downtown area of town while we were playing tourist yesterday. We visited several of the little shops in the business district along Wickenburg Way. I spotted this ocotillo on our way back to the parking lot. Click on the image to enlarge.
Serrano Peppers in the Garden
We’re currently growing our garden vegetables for the summer. These Serrano peppers are just about ready to pick and get mixed into a salsa or something that will go really good with margaritas on the patio. 🙂 Click on the image to enlarge.
Saguaro Pollinators
With four flowers on the saguaro open today, the bees were out in force to collect the nectar and pollinate the cactus. Behind the open flowers, you can see a couple of fruit pods forming where other flowers have already opened. Click on the image to enlarge.
