It’s really, really hard to pick a single image from the 125 pictures I took today in the South Coast Botanic Garden on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. I’ll show this collage of sixteen images, but none of them do justice to actually being in the garden.

I’ll post a couple of full-sized images later this week - they were all very beautiful.

We welcome our new nephew, Baby Drake into the extended family. What a cutie! Thanks to Sherry for the photo.

And I now have taken possession of my new best little friend. After the long wait and finally taking delivery, I went into the range and promptly put 50 rounds through this little beauty. Not only did I put the rounds through the gun barrel, they actually managed to go through the target at (more or less) where I was aiming. She’s got quite a kick for a little lady, but I just love shooting this lightweight, compact firearm. When I slip her into my pocket she disappears from view, and you would never know she was there - until I whip her out. No hammer to catch on my holster or pocket either. She’s ready in a flash!

Can you say Happy Dance?

The Gazania Daybreak Red Stripe, ‘Gazania splendens’, are early to flower and the compact 8 inch tall plants produce flowers with red stripes on yellow petals. The blooms open with the sun, and stay open longer than most varieties. The Daybreak Red Stripe flower profusely throughout the warmer months. The daisy like flowers are very colorful. This is one of several annuals that we recently added to the the outdoor floral collection. Very pretty!

This is Verna snapping a picture of a lighthouse at Point Vicente (inset - the picture she took). We have lots of pictures taken from this area. It’s very photogenic there. And so is she, I might add.

Next week will be the beginning of Summer, and the flowers are still showing their colors in many places. Bob took his walk after lunch and snapped this picture of a huge planter outside the Manhattan Village Mall. A banana tree is surrounded by colorful annuals in this planter. The other day when we took our Nature Walk, I snapped this panorama of the trail head just as we were starting. Click for the full panorama.
