Palos Verdes Estates Neptune Fountain
Palos Verdes Estates is a city in Los Angeles County, California, USA on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It was designed by the noted American landscape architect and planner Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. - the same designer of the Olmsted Districts in Torrance.
One of Palos Verdes Estates’ notable landmarks is Neptune Fountain, the City’s logo, in Malaga Cove Plaza. The elaborate two-thirds scale replica of a bronze statue and fountain erected in Bologna, Italy in 1563, was donated to Palos Verdes Estates in 1930 by the Palos Verdes Project. The statue is thought to have been over 100 years old before it was brought to the City and was obtained from a villa courtyard outside Venice.
In the image, King Neptune looks ready to thrust his trident at the paparazzi while holding out his hand as if to say “No more pictures, please.”

Neptune, atop the fountain, is surrounded by cherubs, aquatic denizens and mermaids who spout water from — well, any place one might expect liquid to flow.

Fool’s Gold
From a review of “Fool’s Gold” on Amazon:
I just came from a screening, one of the first I think, for this film and I have to tell you it was one of the most enjoyable movies that I have seen in quite a while. The cast was flawless, and the performance given by Donald Sutherland was a treat! It was funny, it was witty, and the comedic timing and chemistry between Matt McConaughey and Kate Hudson was delightful. The action scenes were realistic but believable and the location of the film was breathtaking. I would recommend this film to people of all ages, and it was for sure NOT a chick flick. I plan on going again with my husband once it hits the theatres. Job well done to all!
Sounds like a cute movie - not out on DVD yet, but we’re planning on getting it when it is available.

We took this revolver with us to target practice yesterday. While we were there, we shot Mickey Mouse.
