During a drive on Saturday, I captured a series of images and patched them together to create this panoramic image. From left to right, you can see the new development going on at the old Marineland site and the Palos Verdes Fishing Access Cove. In the haze in the distance, Catalina Island can be seen. Click for the full-sized version.

This was a cool place to visit on a rather warm day.

Not exactly the standard chuck wagon style, though. This is a supper consisting of Fillet Mignon steaks, butterflied, trimmed and pounded then floured and fried in olive oil in a cast iron skillet. The gravy is made in the iron skillet after the steaks are done. Also seen are mashed red potatoes, sliced carrots sauteed in butter and apple juice and home grown (just picked today) Kentucky Wonder green beans with bacon bits, onions and garlic.

We stopped here today for a visit and to make a donation. This little guy isn’t an inmate in the sea lion pen, but is getting much needed care so he can be repatriated to his environment.

The next in my series of Hawaiian shirts is this colorful print commemorating Catalina Island. We were married in Avalon and this is one of Bob’s favorites. There are other in Reyn Spooner’s Catalina collection and we plan to get one there when we make our annual pilgrimage to the island for our anniversary this year.

I hope readers of our diary don’t get tired of the beautiful cactus flower pictures I post here - I never do . . .
This is an Easter Lily Cactus flower. It’s growing on a stalk that projects out from a small barrel cactus in a six-inch pot.

By the way, the real Easter Lilies are still blooming in another pot. Click on the image above for the big size.

It was difficult to pick which one of these gorgeous blossoms to post on the website today. When I got up this morning, I estimate there were a dozen of these that opened last night.
In this close-up shot of one flower, you can see more buds developing in the background. I’m pretty sure that we will have new flowers daily for the rest of this month. Click on the image for the 1024×768 version.

If you watch the NFL Pro Bowl played in Honolulu the weekend after Super Bowl, you have seen the coaching staff wearing Hawaiian shirts by the famous Reyn Spooner studios. This pattern is Reyn’s spring patriotic pattern, Hawaii-style. It features stars and stripes and the state flag of Hawaii.
